A stay of a life time
This was a “Bucket list” holiday for us. So, it had a great deal to live up to. The tour company was recommended by our daughter. She had used the twice previously. I have to say, from the start of our enquiry to the trip itself, the service and communication has been excellent. At every stage, we were kept informed and consulted. Even contacted during the stay to ensure everything was going to plan. They even gave us contact details, should we have any issues.A company representative met us at the airport in Delhi and he guided us to our driver Jagdish – who would quickly become invaluable to us. The representative stayed with us through our journey to our hotel (Hyatt Regency Delhi) and booked us in. He gave us a souvenir bag with all the documentation vouchers we would need for the whole trip. We negotiated our meeting time for the following day and spent the day resting at the hotel. The hotel was amazing. Beautiful setting with a taste of luxury. Our driver and guide met us in the lobby at the agreed time and we embarked on our first full tour day. Vicky our guide was kind and very knowledgeable. Supplying us with all the information, history and culture we needed. Vicky would be our guide whilst in Delhi and made us feel completely at ease, allowing us to enjoy the temples, monuments and sites.Following our 3 days in Delhi, we said goodbye to Vicky and Jagdish drove us to Agra. Where we were met by Iqbal our guide for Agra. Iqbal checked us in to our Hotel (Marriott Courtyard Agra) and arranged to meet us once we had settled in for our first sighting of THE TAJ MAHAL. Our guide gave us a brief history of what we were about to see. Beautiful, Magnificent, Amazing are just words and none of them truly describe the sight of The Taj Mahal. Our guide explained the story behind the mausoleum and took us to the best photographic spots so we were able to take amazing pictures. Through our 2 days in Agra we visited the Taj twice, Agra Fort, not only a stunning Fort but included views along the river to the Taj, Itmad-ud-Daula (said to be the inspiration for the Taj), Mehtab Bagh – gardens with a magnificent view of the Taj and a cultural evening show, which told the love story of the Taj. We were taken to a place where we were able to see how the marble inlays were made, with lots of shopping opportunities.Following our 2 days in Agra, Jagdish drove us to Jaipur. Stopping off on the way at the Red Fort, where our guide met us and guided us around. After saying goodbye to Iqbal, Jagdish continued our journey with one more stop off at Abhaneri. To see one of the biggest and largest stepwells in India. Arriving in Jaipur, we were met by another company representative and taken to our hotel (Khas Bagh) - A beautiful family run farm retreat in the hills. The attention to detail here was fantastic. We spent the next 2 days guided through the amazing city by Soniel – a lovely kind man with lots of information about the history and funny stories.Saying goodbye to Soniel, the following morning Jagdish drove us to the airport for our first internal flight. Picking up the company representative again, he talked us through what to expect and gave us our boarding cards. Even waited outside for a while to make sure we were ok. Everything went to plan and after a 60 minute flight we were in Jodhpur. Where we were met again by a company representative and taken to our hotel (Ratan Vilas) – another outstanding “haveli” type hotel. We were able to send some laundry off at a very reasonable price here. The food was also amazing. Perfectly located close to the airport and city. Once settled Rocky a guide took us to the Blue City and walked us through. Amazing as the sun began to set, showing off the colours. The next day after a great breakfast we were met by another guide Camel who guided us through the city and took us for the best (I kid you not) Samosas I have ever tasted.2 days later we were back at the airport saying goodbye to our driver, guide and company representative. The hotels chosen for us were faultless. The guides were all very informative and never rushed us, able to answer any questions we had. Our driver Jagdish is worthy of a special mention as he was amazing. In a world where driving looks like chaos to us Brits, he made us feel safe at all times. He was always early and ready at a drop of the hat. Always providing us with water and had amazing restaurant recommendations for all the cities we visited. A private tour was exactly what we had hoped for, we felt like vipsA truly amazing experience with the attention to detail adding to a memorable holiday.
